Windows Delayed Write Failed

Brad

Hi All,

I am experiencing the problem in the following article,
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=321733
I get a Delayed write failed message usually when
downloading files but sometimes just while browsing. The
problem usually goes away when I restart but reappears a
few hours later. The I've heard of this problem occuring
quite regular on some usb hard drives but mine is just an
internal 40gb drive. I have turned off file cache and my
registry was already set to the value described in the
article. Can anybody provide the hotfix mentioned in the
article or suggest what is wrong. I would really
appereciate some help.
Thanks,

Brad.

I would suggest that you not rule out hard disk failure. I have seen several DELLs with Maxtor drives with this error, in the past few weeks. After speaking with DELL and running disk diagnostics, each of the drives had to be replaced. They had not actually failed, but they would not pass diagnostics. Perhaps you should download a disk diagnostic tool and verify the drive. I like Spin Rite by Gibson Research. I was not able to actually track down the Patch as noted in the Microsoft article.
