delayed write failed

R

Ross

I recently installed a Western Digital 160G hd and the
Promise controller card that came bundled with it. I have
started receiving 'delayed write failed' messages. I am
trying to follow Microsoft Knowledgebase article #330174
but when I try to disabled write caching, I cannot
because the selections are grayed out. Any ideas on how
to disable write caching on this HD?

Could be a number of issues. Things to check:

1. Physical drive connections (long shot, but might as well start w/ the
basics)
2. Make sure you have the most up to date drivers for your promise
controller (can be found on http://www.promise.com)
3. Run hard drive diagnostics provided from Western Digital to verify that
your disk is not bad.

Also make sure you get the latest firmware from Promise.

I had issues with a Promise TX133 card. Upgraded the firmware and got the
most recent driver and finally those issues are gone.
