Delayed Write Failed

I do not expect a resolution because I think M$ has no solution yet. HP has
not been able to help nor has Seagate. They refer me to knowledge base
articles which refer to XP withOUT Service Pack.

HP Pavilion notebook. USB 2.0 PCMCIA. Seagate 250G drive in a USB
interfaced enclosure. XP Home with Service Pack 2 and all current updates.
Have turned OFF write caching for this drive.

Randomly get Windows Delayed Write Failed when writing to this drive.
If anyone knows something that would help, great. Otherwise, I am posting
this only to encourage M$ to pursue a resolution.

Is this "delayed" write error a LOGICAL error at the WINDOWS code level?

Or, is this a HARDWARE I/O error being reported BACK to WINDOWS code??

Have you run a trace utility like FILEMON from http://www.sysinternals.com?? to see if you
can get more info on what process, what file is responsible for the error?

Youre not going to get any takers by going thru newsgroups, its not what
communities are for...However,get the specifics thru event viewer for the
event/warning,write them down,go to:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/support/default.mspx Locate,Events/Error
message help. You'll get connected to the data base, you'll need the info from
event viewer....

Sorry if I posted the wrong thing to the wrong place. Since my OS came from
HP on my notebook, MS$ won't help me directly, and I was advised to go to
newsgroups. Figured xp.hardware was the place.

Went to the website you suggested, but could not find a link for
Events/Error
message help. Maybe I am not understanding you.
