Windows Defender

As a volunteer I administer a Windows 2003 Server with 24 clients - mixed XP
Pro SP2 and W2000 Pro SP4. All are fully up to date. Defender went on 23
machines OK but on 1 W2000 machine I get the message "Windows Defender
Service failed to start" and the installation stops. The virus checker is OFF
and I have tried to 'net start' Defender. I have run 'Reg clean'.
HELP!!

service and change it from local account to an administrator account on

network. Try to start the service. Mine came back with "access denied."
Great. Now change it back to local account, and presto, it should work.

Thanks Tom (and David). That didn't help - when I do that I get a message
"Error 2147942402 cannot find file specified"

Hi Arthur,

try this, download:
http://djlizard.net/software/Dial-a-fix-full.exe
and do a scan with all the check marks on.
