Windows Defender Update Definition File Manually and Without Insta

I have windows xp at home and want to use windows defender to check out my
spyware. I have been on the internet, but am unable to currently. How can I
manually download a definition file without a connection to the internet? I
have access at school but I am unable to install windows defender there. I'd
like a specific site so that I can get the definition file and load it at
home. I won't install the program unless I know I can update it. Please help.

If your machine is seriously infected, apply the definitions saved via the
link Dave M gave, once update, restart Windows in safe mode, or perhaps safe
mode with networking, and scan with Windows Defender, and perhaps Ewido and
your (no doubt out of date) antivirus as well.

I think I'd recommend trying safe mode, and a scan at
safety.live.com--Microsoft's online virus/spyware scanner. This should work
in safe mode with networking--choose the full protection scan at the
beginning, and, once the scanners load, choose the quickscan, which is a
malware only scan--leaves out the "optimization" type stuff--worry about
that when your machine is clean enough to optimize.
