Windows Defender says scan results are not available

My Defender runs every day at noon...it continues to say scan results are not
available after the scan stops...Do I need to reinstall it? What's up with
that?

Wondering if your running from a Admin Authority Logon or a General User
Logon, and what your two Administrator settings are set to at the very
bottom of the Defender Tools/Options page when you scroll down to them?
Also what Windows Defender and Engine versions are you running ?

I am the Administrator on my computer...I don't know how to change that
within Windows Defender...At the bottom of the Tools/Options page the two
administrator settings: The first one is checked, the second one is
unchecked...I am running Windows Defender version 1.1.1051.0...Engine version
1.1.1441.0 with signature version 1.14.1475.5

OK, I was just asking to make sure you weren't running as a general user
with that turned off, you wouldn't change Administrator within WD, but it
makes a difference in how WD runs if these settings are not correct.

How about taking a look at your Control Panel > Admin Tools > Event Viewer
System > View > Filter on WinDefend
and see if there are any errors or warnings around the time that scan ends.

Another option is to try a repair in Control Panel > Add/Remove > Click
here for support then > Repair
But I see your running an older version of the program, so I'd be tempted
to first go to the WD website and download the current Version which is:
Windows Defender Version: 1.1.1347.0
It doesn't yet update the program version through the update function
within the program, just engine and definition versions.

I looked in the event viewer and there was nothing there to explain the
situation...so I uninstalled the older version and rebooted and installed the
new version...I ran a full scan and it gave me the results...my computer is
running normally and there are no unwanted items on my computer...I guess the
problem has been fixed...we'll see...thank you for your help...

Great. Welcome to 1.1.1347.0, don't forget to scroll bar through options
and make sure your Spynet membership is still as you'd like it... also
decide if you like your WD taskbar icon always visible (notification area.)
Both options here might have changed with the new version.

Thanks for all your help...it turns out I picked something up that isn't
being detected by any of my protective agents...all my programs keep closing
and not responding...Internet Explorer, my games, my search ...I just
installed the CA-EZ antivirus and uninstalled the McAfee, I must have been
stupid for a moment...then it started acting up...anyway, the end result is
that I'm going to have to do a system recovery...take it back to zero...what
a pain...and makes your time wasted as well as mine...I do apologize for
that...
