Can anyone recommend a replacement for Windows Defender for a W2K user?
I found its combination of threat scanning, memory resident defence and
software
explorer tools very useful. I know of the new windows onecare but is it
available for
W2K? I guess this is all part of MS levering everyone forward onto XP and
Vista
With thanks to anyone with suggestions

I have replaced WD with Superantispyware on my last W2K machine (despite
the idiotic name). The free version, however, does not have an active
guard, nor does it autoupdate.

I find it a shame that after participating in the WD beta test with W2K
for far longer than a year, W2K users are just cut off like that. I
understand that Microsoft does no longer support W2K, yet is is still a
very stable OS, and some older machines simply are too weak to upgrade
to XP or higher.

It is a shame! For a replacement, I would suggest AVG Antispyware free
version for scans and WinPatrol free version for shields. Both will work with
Windows 2000 and are compatible with each other.
