Windows Defender not updating

Hello,

I have a clean install of Vista Ultimate on my laptop computer and have
noticed that Windows Defender is not updating. I've forced an update but
not joy I receive the error code: 0x80240029. I thought it might be that I
use Firefox as my default browser but I've tried it with IE7 as default and
still have the same issue.

Any help much appreciated? I do have Avast install and use Windows Firewall
and Spyware Doctor for my security apps.

Hi,

The same issue happened to me on Windows Vista Home Premium. There's nothing
I can find from Microsoft webpages (including discussion groups). Does anyone
know how to remove Windows Defender from Windows Vista? Thanks a lot.

It can't update by itself; it needs windows update to do it.

Even if I force it it still errors on me.
