Save the download to the desktop, and run it from there, by double-clicking
on it.

I hate to hijack a thread, but I cannot post a new topic.
No idea why.
When I hit "new" it just flashes.
I've turned off all items that could block it to no avail.

Anyway, question:

5825 just hit the airwaves, and the Rivarts.A Backdoor is no longer shown.
Good!

I have Beta 1.
I have read the data, looks like I am supposed to be notified when I am to
get "Defender".
Is this true, or should I dump Beta 1 and download Defender?

Thnaks.

I think a new thread is a popup--and you need to allow popups from this site
for it to work.

Yes--5825 changes things--I'm impressed that it does the same thing on both
beta1 and beta2--that's pretty interesting--there's more commonality under
the hood than I had expected.

You can move to Windows Defender any time you want to--if you've read the
stuff about the missing icon, and can deal with the loss of some of the
advanced tools, and if Windows Update and AutoUpdate are working, I'd
recommend the new version--I'm quite certain it does what it does better
than the old one did. (hmm--maybe with the exception of removing threats
within archives--we could debate that one--but the new one is "safer!")

You can just download and run--the setup will remove the old one as it
installs Windows Defender.

I turned off every pop-up blocking protocol, allowed ALL cookies while trying
it, nothing worked.
I'm not even getting an advisory flag anywhere.

Oh, well.

I think I'll wait a bit before dumping Beta 1, as I still have 3 months or
so on it.

No problem with sticking with the old one.

What browser?
