Please help

I am by no means a computer wizz, so could be a dumb question but here goes
anyway...........

have just downloaded defender, and had completed a scan, yet when i click
install, it begins, but stops part way through and this error message comes
up:

Error 1316.A network error occured while attempting to read from the file
C:/Documents and Settings\Admin\Desktop\WindowsDefender[1].msi

Have tried restarting computer, connected and disconnected from internet,
please someone help me

There are no dumb questions...

First you downloaded WD.

Then you also completed a scan as you wrote ??? WD must already been
installed ?

If you look inside Start>Programs you have WD if it´s installed.

Or if I totally misunderstand this....
