Windows Defender in a "Loop" Update

Windows Defender Update in a "Loop" Update. I have my PC on automatic
updates. Everyday for a few weeks now Windows Defender will let me know there
is an update. And everyday I click yes to download and install just like I
have done in the past and all the updates install. Except for this particular
one that seems to be the latest. The update downloads, installs and then the
update is back again within a few seconds. No matter how many times I click
it, it remains in a “loop†and does not install. It reminds me of the old LP
records that keep skipping over the same words until someone flicks the
needle and it starts playing right again. Can someone help me update my
Windows Defender. Thank you, rlmarr

I have exactly the same problem, although the download history shows the
update has being successful and checking for updates from Defender shows that
the program is uptodate.

is the place to start--in particular, I think the linked KB 915105 will fix
this for you--and probably permanently--Microsoft has made recent changes to
the update system which should alleviate this in future.
