Windows defender Can not check for updates

I have Vista, and my computer says that the windows defender can not check
for updates. I cant remember the error code but it the help button say it
could be due to my additional serurity suit I get through my phone company.

Any ideas?

I had a similar problem after installing defender on an infected XP machine,
the update button was greyed out. I used that url to download the file with
my 'clean' laptop and transfer the file over to the infected machine to scan
with.

Hi Katie I understand that you cannot remember the error message. But as of
my knowledge sometime you will not be able to perform the windows defender
updates due to the infections. I strongly suggest that you run a virus scan
and then try to update your defender.
