Windows Defender Beta2

When doing a system check, I get an error message (Missing file: "C:\Program
Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exe") "C\Program Files\Windows
Defender\MSASCui.exe" cannot access a necessary file, "msvcp80.dll." Where do
we go from here?

I'd recommend re-downloading, and saving to a known location--like the
desktop.
After the download is complete, disable real-time protection by your
antivirus for long enough to do the installation.
I hope this post is helpful, let us know how it works ºut.

Hi Engel,

When I had the same problem with 'msvcp80.dll' & 'msvcr80.dll', you
suggested ' Delete c:\program files\windows defender\MSASCui.exe.manifest'.
Neither of them were there to delete.
So, in another post John E. Van Kirk suggested:
The best thing to do when you run One Button CheckUp next time, in the
Program Integrety Section, mark those entries to be ignored, and it will
clear up the entries in OBC when you run them. That way, you
have solved the problem regarding Symantec's complaint, without permanently
deleting any files in Windows Defender.

Hi Trish,

In Philbad post, he is missing MSASCui.exe, I don't know other way to
reemplase the file.

You ignore it. Windows Defender is working fine, right? This is incorrect
information. I'm not sure how to describe the technical issue, but you need
not do anthing about this. (and I also can't tell you how to avoid being
"alerted" to it in the future--you'll need to talk to the vendor of the
software that is creating the alert.
