The antispyware tool that Microsoft has had in beta for months is "now
released" with a new name, but it's still in beta?

This was a non beta software bought by MS from GIANT,
and dubbed beta because it is intended to be a part of Vista.

This is beta 2, and they changed the interface to look more like vista.

It is not beta because it has bugs.. the only complaints people had
were about definitions. But those were updated.

Is this what MS calls Windows One Care? If so, this is now payware: $50 per
year IIRC, for up to 3 computers.

Let me know if it's not.

then they'll start charging top dollar !

They will charge for Windows Onecare. But not for Windows Defender
(formerly Micrososft Antispyware).
