MS AntiSpyware Beta

My Windows Defender will not work. My research says that if I have MS
AntiSpyware Beta installed, the windows defender will not work. How do I find
the MS AntiSpyware Beta program on my computer so I can remove it?

I neglected to say that I know the AntiSpyware Beta is installed as a friend
installed it. I called microsoft but they said the beta is not supported and
could not help me locate the software on my computer.

If it's not listed in Control Panel > Add/Remove, your best bet is the
Windows Installer Cleanup Utility:

and after your through with it, you might want to un-install it as well.
Add/Remove should work for this one.

Its not listed in the add/remove. When i download the windows utility clean
up, my Norton suggests its a malicious file and don't accept it. Since i'm
really a novice i'm nervous about what to do now.

Either check with the "friend", or else you can compare who made it with
who made Windows and that Anti-spyware Beta

hint: it wasn't Symantec ;o)

You may have to disable Norton until after you download and even to run it.
Norton is like a Mother hen... perhaps a little over-protective would be a
good or bad characterization depending on your POV.
