Windows Defender Beta-2 available

Thank you for this. I have been trying out Beta 1. I have been a little
concerned that it seemed to examine far fewer files on my laptop than do the
other anti-spyware programs. Also when Beta 1 runs it shows no spyware on my
machine. Then I run AdAware and it tells me I have "X" new "critical" spies.
These almost always turn out to be tracking cookies, but you have to put them
into quarantine, don't you, just in case AdAware knows more than you do.

And then we have "troll" style threads running to hundreds of responses. My
head is reeling. Anyway, I have downloaded Beta 2, using the link you
provided. (Thanks again). I figure Microsoft have to know more about the
problems than anyone else.

It's like the common cold. You can find many "cures" when there is no real
cure. When scientists come out with a real cufre, there will only be the one!

I would be interested in your views.

When I installed beta 2. it said it would uninstall the previous version
during the installation process. I let it do that and all was fine.
