Windows defender and Firefox problem

I just installed the updated Windows Defender. Since then, I find that all
my Firefox extensions have disappeared--and I'm not able to (re-) install any
more. Also, Firefox doesn't find the XML script that allows it to
auto-update.

I have Windows Defender installed on about half a dozen machines with
Firefox as the primary browser in use. I haven't had this complaint from
anyone--and I know for sure that they have been receiving regular security
updates, for example, and also use extensions.

So--I'm not sure what's going on here--but this isn't something Windows
Defender is doing on the systems I administer.
