Windows Defender and Corporate Security

As far as I can tell, beta 2 fails to get updates because I don't have
Windows Update installed, and it relies on that functionality. However, in a
corporate environment (we use SMS and WSUS), windows update is often disabled
since we want to control how patches are rolled out.

Doesn't this make beta 2 useless in such an environment?

There were no such problems with beta 1. Why not make the method of updating
a multi-choice option to meet the requirements of companies that manage their
desktops, but are willing to let packages such as this be updated
independently?

Windows Defender is designed to update via WSUS in your situation. The
administrators need to enable the new category of updates in WSUS to make
the definitions available.

Additionally, you should keep an eye on Microsoft's Microsoft Client
Protection product--it will include central management of the antispyware
capabilities, among other features.
