A clients XP Pro computer frequently shuts down and
restarts. The system is used for photo restorations and
copying VHS to DVD.I believe that the page file may need
moving to a different partition and increasing in size.
System specs. P4 2.4Ghz 800fsb ,512mb ddr 40gb&80gb
HDD.Uses Photoshop etc.

Hi Tezza,

First find out what is causing the reboots. By default, WinXP autorestarts
on a system failure. Use one of these methods to determine the problem:

1) Start/run eventvwr.msc and check the system and application logs.

2) Open System properties, click the advanced tab/startup and recovery
settings, uncheck the autorestart on system failure option. This should
cause a "stop" error the next time the problem occurs. Make note of the stop
error message and codes so they can be researched.

Once we know what is causing it, it may be easier to resolve. Also, as to
the pagefile, I don't think moving it will help, but if you want to, check
the performance settings on the advanced tab. Go to the second tab of this
and you will see an option to change the pagefile settings.
