I recently installed Windows XP Pro and on a daily basis am getting the
following error. While using my computer, the screen will go blank and the
system will reboot itself. After rebooting, a message saying "the system
recovered from a serious fault" appears. Along with this message, the
following data is displayed.

BCCode : 24 BCP1 : 001902FE BCP2 : EEFD3734 BCP3 : EEFD3430
BCP4 : 8057A87F OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1

My system is clean with all the latest OS updates, updated virus definitions
and perform spyware/adware checks daily.

System info:
MB: MSI-6580
CPU: INTEL P4 2.4Ghz
OS: Windows XP Pro SP2
RAM: 512MB (DDR 2900)
HDD: WD 80GB

If anyone can identify what could be causing this error,it would be
appreciated. Also, I would like to know if there is a solution out there to
correct this error.

Thanks.

Yam,

Please right click on My Computer > Properties > Advance tab > Settings
(under Startup and Recovery) > uncheck "Automatically Restart".

Now WinXP will not auto restart when it gets an error. When you get the
error, copy it down and post the error here.

Thanks.

Jabez,
Thanks for the suggestion, but, why should I uncheck Automatically Restart?
A fault/error is a fault/error. I am looking for solutions to get to the
bottom of this.

As for the type of error I am getting, please see my first post (i.e.
BCCODE: 24).

Yam,

I suggested to uncheck the "Automatic Reboot Windows ..." so that you will
be able to see a full screen of errors for you to copy down for
troubleshooting.

But anyway, please try the followings too:

1. Run a memory test: http://www.memtest86.com/ . Use this program to check
if your memory is faulty.
2. Please update make sure that you have the latest version of drivers
installed for your machine: graphic card, sound, motherboard (BIOS), etc.
3. Try uninstalling Norton AV and see if you are still getting this problem.
4. You might want to take a look at http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm ,
especially no 24 on the left:

Hope thi shelps.

having the same problem

Hi, I'm having the exact same problem. I am running:

Motherboard: ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe
CPU: AMD 4400+
Memory: 2 gigs generic RAM
Disk: 3 Western Digitla 250 gig, SATA RAID 5 configuration using MB Controller

I just switched off automatic reboots and here's what the blue screen of death said:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
***STOP: 0x0000000A (0xBECDF428, 0x00000001, 0x00000000, 0x8050504F)

It also said switch off BIOS shadowing and caching, but I couldn't find those settings in the BIOS. Can someone give me an idea here, I'm clueless and this problem is killing me.

Thanks in advance!
