Windows Crash/ Boot Crash

Hi all,

I recently reinstalled windows after having a slow computer and contracting
many things wrong with my computer. Now, windows crashes when i play media on
programs like wmp and itunes, and it also crashes if i open programs like
xfire, enemy territory and if i press the sleep button, it starts to go into
stand-by and then just before it finishes, my computer restarts. I also found
that a later update actually made my computer unbootable, such that it would
start up and bring up the windows xp symbol and then once finished loading,
restarted. This problem has occured once before, though I had to use fdisk
and format the disk through that to get windows to work propally again, does
anyone out there have any better ideas of what is going on?
P.S. It happened on home edition and Professional (I just upgraded today)
and i use sp2 and amd chipset.
Best Reguards, Ryan.

one check you can make is to ensure your bios is not bein loaded into cache.
Boot to your cmos and unselect this option, if selected...

another is that you can "repair" windows with your windows cd. select new
install, then repair install when it provides you with the option....
