Windows Components

Joe

When I go into add/remove programs, and click on Add/Remove Windows
components, I get the Windows Setup screen with the advice 'Setup was unable
to open the information file iis.inf. Contact Systems Administrator. The
specific error code is 0X2 at line 2011777033.

I have run sfc /scannow and also chkdsk but that has not rectified the
problem. I am the only user and I have that profile as administrator.

I am using XP Pro.

Can you assist please?

Insert your XP CD and then open a Command Prompt window. Enter the following command:

EXPAND -R X:\I386\IIS.IN_ C:\Windows\Inf

Where X is your CD-ROM drive letter. This assumes that XP is installed in C:\Windows

Thanks Doug,

I have type in EXPAND-R D:\I386\IIS.IN_C:\Windows\Inf and I get the message
that EXPAND-R is not recognised as a command.

I have tried a lot of variations but I still can't get it to work

Don't forget the Space before the -R

If you entered it exactly as shown, the space between the EXPAND and the -R is missing.

Thanks for the replies.

I have run it with the instructions that you gave and it worked OK this
time, expanded by 961%.

Many thanks and appreciation for your help
