windows caught in reboot cycle

Had a windows me machine that I decided to upgrade with windows xp
professional. Upgraded with an upgrade disc, not full version. After
upgrade was complete, machine rebooted, gets to windows logo screen, see a
flash of a blue screen and then reboots. Have tried a repair install and the
problem persists. Have tried to boot into safe mode but it gets hung up and
never opens. Any ideas or thoughts would be extrememly helpful. Thanks.

You could try removing any extra cards/devices leaving only a single ram
stick, hd,cd,graphics. Then running a repair install.

Please post a complete copy of the Stop Error Report.

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on the
My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure until you have
resolved the problem. Check for variants of the Stop Error message.

Your machine is most likely lacking the right drivers for Windows XP.
Do you still have your Windows ME CD?

Hope this helps.

Yes I do still have the Windows ME CD. I am unable to disable the automatic
restart as windows never completely boots, not even in safe mode.

OK. Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Keep pressing the
F8 key during StartUp and select option - Disable automatic restart on
system failure.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure until you have
resolved the problem. Check for variants of the Stop Error message.

What is the make and model of your computer. Is it a desktop or a
laptop.
