windows can't load user profile

When I try to login to my profile I get the following
message "Windows cannot load user profile and is logging
you on to a temperary profile" Since my profile was
hammered the machine is slow for all the users. When I
log on as administrator in safe mode it takes awhile for
the computer to find my documents when I click on my
folder under documents and settings. How can I fix this
problem? I searched the knowledge base and but creating
another user id for me doesn't solve the problem of the
very slow computer.

Thanks for all and any help.

Log on with a different account that has administrative privileges.
Create a new account for yourself (obviously you'll have to give it a
different name than your first one). Copy over the data from the old
account. You'll probably need to take ownership of the files (look in
XP's Help & Support for "take ownership"). Then delete the old,
corrupted profile.
