Windows cannot find file

I am running Windows XP Pro (SP2) with Firefox 2.0.0.2 as my default browser.
I do the following:

1) Click on a .lnk file
2) Firefox displays page and dialog box appears at same time
3) Get properties of .lnk file
4) Click on "Prnt Scrn"
5) Open Window's Paint program and paste the clipboard
6) Save as .jpg file

Questions:

1) Why am I getting the dialog box?
2) If the dialog box is correct, how does Firefox display the correct page?

1) Click on a .lnk file
2) Firefox displays page and dialog box appears at same time
3) Get properties of .lnk file
4) When the error message pops up, click on it to make sure that it has
focus.
5) Hit Ctrl + C to copy the message.
6) Use Ctrl + V or right click and select Paste to paste into a message or
Notepad or whatever.

If you click on the link to the .jpg file in my post you can see the error
dialog box.

And I showed a way to copy an error message without having to use Print
Screen.

It would appear that the Target in your shortcut is missing the double
quotes mark at the beginning.

The Target in the shortcut contains the double quotes mark at the beginning -
the field is not wide enough to show it.

Thanks for the info on way to copy an error message. How about an answer to
the two questions asked?

SWAG: you have Windows Internet Explorer 7.

Paste the following line into Start | Run and click OK...

C:\Program Files\Dell\System Manual Inspiron 9200\index.htm

What happens?

Navigate to C:\Program Files\Dell\System Manual Inspiron 9200 and create a
new shortcut to index.htm. Try the new shortcut, if it works, replace the
other one with it.

In both cases Firefox displays the correct page, but in both cases the same
error dialog box appears.

Just found this discussion about it on the Firefox forum at Mozillazine:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=525238

and a link to a fix here:

As well as changing the settings for HTTP and HTTPS, as the post
suggests, I changed HTM and HTML too, as I couldn't open shortcuts to
local files. All now fine -- hope it works for you too :)
