Hi,

I just recently (last week) upgraded to Win XP Pro from ME
(which went smoothly) I have reinstalled XP compatible
programs and have had no other issues except that this
message appears "Windows cannot find 'copy'..." when i
login to my user acct. most commonly after a shutdown. I
find a file called "copy" in the windows system folder but
it's not an .exe file and I'm not sure what to do with it
anyway. The message is more of an annoyance (i.e. once I
click ok everything's fine after that) but any suggestions
would be welcome.

Cheers

Quentin

Add my name to the list, I have been running windows XPsp1 for along
time, there was no immediate system changes that I am aware of before
this starting happending less than a seek ago.

Could be a conspiracy... I just started getting this on 11/14/03. No
system changes that I know off. Any help would be much appreciated...
As an FYI: I receive this message at startup. There is no Registry
Keys related to this item in startup areas.

I had the same and was able to fix it:

1. Open Regedit by going to Start>>Run and then typing regedit.

2. Then do a find for "winshow" When any key is found, delete it by
pressing the delete key. Be sure to hit the F3 (Find Next) key after
each. There are about 10 or so that need to be find. Regedit will say
"Finished Searching" when complete.

3. Repeat the same step above, but this time search for "winlink"

4. After that is done, close regedit.

5. You will then have to search for the the .dll files stored on the
harddrive. Go to search for files at c: Then search for "winshow" and
"winlink" Delete any files that you find. (Im my case I did not find
any files named winlink)

6. Restart the computer

Everything should be good after that.

Enjoy!

I also found similar solutions. But here are a few different details.
Norton had removed a trojan earlier, but Norton scanned clean. I
went to the Trend Micro site, and used their online scanner to find
the issue. Using a combination of their scanner and the removal
instructions at Symantec, I went through 3 or 4 removals before I got
everything done. I would recommend Trend Micro's scanner to help you
resolve this one. Good luck.
