Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file

I have an extremely interesting problem. I have a network share on 1
of my servers that houses Applications. My problem is that I cannot
get the .exe file to run on my 4 other servers, whenever I try to run
the .exe I get the error "Windows cannot access the specified device,
path or file. You may not have appropriate permissions to access the
item". The interesting part is that I can access the .exe file on the
DC that houses them and on the workstations, but not the other servers.
I have checked all share & security permissions and everything looks
fine I can also ping all servers. Could someone please give me a place
to start.

Your problem is cause by IE 7 or even IE 6. Restrore you Internet
Properties back to default. You can do this under the Advanced tab of
your Internet Properties.

Also if you do not want to reset all you settings then just right click
the file in question from the unc path and choose to unblock option
under the general tab.

On a WS2003R2, right click on the file in question, select properties, then
click "Unblock", "Apply", then "OK" You will be able to run the file.

I found the Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration option caused
this issue for me. Once it was removed the error was eliminated.

Ran into same issue. l_mlodinov's response was the only of the above that
worked.

- Open Control Panel and launch add/remove programs,
- Select Add/Remove Windows Components.
- Select Internet Explorerer Enhanced Security Configuration & Click
Details.
- Uncheck 'For administrator groups' & Click OK, Next, et al...
