Windows cannot access the specified path or file...

Mark

I have a single program (Cryptainer LE) that has suddenly stopped working on
my machine.

When I click on the .EXE file (not a shortcut) to run the program, I get the
following message:

"Windows cannot access the specified path or file. You may not have the
appropriate permissions to access the item."

I'm the administrator on this machine. The program worked in the near past.
I'm running WinXP SP2.

Any ideas on where I begin to get this working again?

Thank you.

A search of my drive found only the file secedit.sdb. I could not find the
..EXE application file. Is that downloadable from somewhere on the MS site?

Thanks,
Mark

Should by default be in the %systemroot%\system32 directory. If not you can
expand a new copy from your install CD-Rom.

From a command prompt you can expand the file. An example;

expand E:\I386\secedit.ex_ %systemroot%\system32\secedit.exe
would expand a new copy to the \system32 directory.

Also you'll want to use the correct version for the service pack level
you're at. So you may need to extract the file from a service pack.

To extract the service pack files without installing them, execute
J:\WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe /x

Then when prompted, specify a directory to hold the extracted files.
