Windows blocking at start up

Hello

I have Windows XP SP3 and it has been stable for a long time until recently

It has started to block when I switch on my computer. Rebooting doesn't help

The only way to get it to work then is to lauch it in safe mode and then
reboot it.

This works every time until and I can even start up normally the next few
times but the problem keeps coming back

I don't have any driver or peripheral problems as far as I know.

I wonder if it is a video card problem cos each time the problem occurs, the
Window sign has just started to appear (its on my screen but very faint)

I've cleared out the old log files and I'll post again when I have sth
