Start up folders in 'all users' and 'specific' accounts

Dave Neve

Hello

I wanted a program to start automatically at Windows startup and so I put a
shortcut to it in

C:\Documents and Settings\Dave Neve\Menu Démarrer\Programmes\Démarrage

where 'Demarrer' and 'Demarrage' mean startup in French.

'Dave Neve' is a the name of the only administrator account.

The program would load but disappear at the next start up and not reload
automatically.

So I then put the shortcut in

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Menu Démarrer\Programmes\Démarrage

where it works.

But I don't understand why it didn't work in its original place.

Can anyone explain this to me please?

Thanks

Dave Neve

Shortcuts in the Startup folders do not run at Windows startup
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/norunstartup.htm

If that doesn't work, try this tip from Rock MS MVP Windows - Shell/User.

Open Services...
Start | Run | Type: services.msc | Click OK |
Scroll down to and double click Universal Plug and Play Device Host service
| If started, click stop the button | Set Startup type to Disabled | Click
Apply | Click OK |
Scroll down to and double click SSDP Discovery service |
If started, click stop the button | Set Startup type to Disabled | Click
Apply | Click OK | Close Services | Reboot
