Messed up XP Start Menu : even Shell folders (in registry) aren't retained.

Hello there,

After the installation of an Adobe product, or something like this, my
Start Menu (currently in classic mode view) just went mad :

As I'm an advanced user, I was like "no problem".
I launched Regedit, located the Shell folders aiming at the wrong
folders, and here's what I saw :
In HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders

Programs is aiming at "C:\Documents and Settings\Programmes" instead
of "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrateur\Menu Demarrer\Programmes"
(sorry, french XP, Administrateur means Administrator, Menu Demarrer
means Start Menu, and Programmes means Programs).

Start Menu is aiming at "C:\Documents and Settings\" instead of
"C:\Documents and Settings\Administrateur\Menu Demarrer"

and Startup is aiming at "C:\Documents and
Settings\Programmes\Démarrage" instead of "C:\Documents and
Settings\Administrateur\Menu Demarrer\Programmes\Demarrage" (demarrage
means Startup)

Same thing in HKEY_USERS\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders.

So, I tryied to change the targets of these entries to the correct
entries, but it goes back to this mess up after a reboot.

Ow, by the way, it also doesn't remember my specific "My Music", "My
Videos" and "My Pictures" shell folders. As I re-arranged my Hard
Drive to have a particular Multimedia Files root folder :
C:\Multimedia Files\Music
C:\Multimedia Files\Videos
C:\Multimedia Files\Images

The weird thing is, that it DOES remember my particular My Documents
folder target (C:\Document Files, instead of C:\Documents and
Settings\*USER*\Documents").

I think I missed another entry, or something like a file protection
lock-up.

Even TweakUI couldn't fix this. Anyone has an Idea on this issue ?

Thanx in advance !

Ok I missed something. TweakUI actually DID fixed my Issue.

But what the hell does it do more than changing the shell folders
destination in Registry ?

I'm asking this one because TweakUI doesn't have any option to
customize the location of My Video, My Pictures and My Music (per user
settings).

If anyone with some experience in this domain knows, I'd be glad to
learn !

Why not ?

I need to alter my user shell folders for easier use of my folder
organisation.

My questions is still unanswered ^^ Please just reply if you have any
idea about it, or else, don't, it's okay. Not a big issue anymore.

Thanx in advance

You did not understand what I said. Altering the "Shell Folders" is useless,
as the value reverts back in accordance to U.SFolders value.

Sorry for the late answer, I tryied to answer your latest post a few
days ago but Google didn't take it.

What I said is : I'm sorry I misunderstood your post.

I thought you told me not to touch these locations for safety or
stability reasons.

But re-reading your post carefully just pointed out that you weren't
talking about the same Registry folder (I'm so stoopid when I'm tired).

Anyway, Thank you so much for your wisedom and patience ! I know
recognize the true *force* of the MVP Master Jedi ^^.

Everything is retained now, that's beautiful !

Thanx again.
