Windows Backup and Image

When I purchased my new laptop computer, the manufacturer (Averatec) provided an image CD of XP Home (a Norton Ghost image) which can only be used to do a complete restore of the hard drive in the event of catastrophic failure. As such, certain utilities are installed, and some are not, and there is no choice in the matter. This approach is used to prevent unauthorized copying of the XP software. All I want to do is install the Windows Backup application which is part of XP Home. I think I am entitled to it since it is part of the XP Home package although it is not installed by default; how do I obtain it so I can add it to my system? Can this component be downloaded from Microsoft?

Without the xp cd youre out of luck, thats the only place to get it
However, the file transfer wizard is actually a better back-up utility, set curren
computer as old, save all data in a new folder you create, when its thru, transfe
data to a cd.This way,all files,folders are saved,user modes,even music files,etc
reinstall xp,updates, use youre data cd,and youre completly restored.

OEM versions of the OS are, for reasons like this, a scam. That's why I
build my own systems and purchase the retail version, I avoid such
aggrevation. Trust me, it can get a whole lot worse than this, such as when
you attempt to install a wireless adapter, modem, a host of other devices,
only to find Windows wants the install CD to grab vital windows drivers
(sometimes you luck out, the OEM has placed some of these on the system,
perhaps in a i386 directory or similar, but not always).
