Windows appears to have missing files

I have recently discovered that windows installer had disappeared (resolved),
My Computer takes an age to load the drives, Internet Explorer will not allow
me to access a url address from the address box. All little niggly problems
suggesting some lost/corrupt files. Have tried doing system restore but that
does not correct the problem. Is there anything else I can try or do I need
to re format the hard drive and re install all software? Have done the usual
disk clean up, defrag...

Hi Chris,

Clean your system:

Run Ad-Aware SE, Spybot and HijackThis:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html

Note: Update each program, once installed, before running.

Note2: To avoid the False-Flag for the DSO Exploit (W3), open
Spybot/Advanced Mode/Settings/Ignore Products. On the All Products Tab,
scrol to DSO Exploit and check that item only. Randy (silj)

Thanks Kelly - my system was clean as I had all the necessary running. Ended
up doing a format on hard drive and reinstallation for a clean start. Quicker
in the long run. However comments could have been v. helpful and your input
appreciated. Thanks
