I am upgrading to a new motherboard and, of course, want to use my current
Windows XP installation CD. I will be doing a clean install on new SATA HDs
with the new motherboard.

Can anyone tell me what the process/issues with doing this will be? Is it
simply going to be a matter of some form of new registration with my new
system? I'm assuming I can still use my old CD (as long as it is used on my
one [new] motherboard).

Thanks

You will just have reactivate following the installation. I'm assuming you
do not have an OEM XP disk

Provided it is a retail XP CD there is no trouble. OEM ones bought with
a piece of hardware are licensed solely to the original machine, and the
status of a change such as you are making is disputable; but would
probably be construed as not allowed.

With a retail CD just install it. When it comes to activation, if it is
more than 120 days since you last did it, you will find it will go
through on the net just like first time. If not, you will have to
phone a toll-free number that will be given, to explain and swap one
long number for another to check back as you type it in
