Windows 95/98 Clients and W2K Srv

Billy

Hi all

We have quite a few Windows 95/98 clients connecting to our Windows 2000
servers. We're using Active Directory on the servers.
I was browsing through Active Directory Users & Computers and I noticed that
our Win95/98 clients aren't in the OU called Computers, should they be? If
they're not meant to be would I be right in assuming I can't make a group
policy have any affect on Windows 95/98 clients? Or if they should be, how
can I rectify this.

Thanks

Billy

Win95/98 don't have a computer account in a domain, so this does not apply
to them. Also Win 9x/Me/NT have no ability to use Group Policies defined in
AD (only old style policies trough ntconfig.pol).

Thanks for getting back to me.
So would one need a ntconfig.pol to setup up security settings like password
expires in xx days etc.

For policies yes, but password policies are not handled by clients, but by
domain controlers, so this policy (defined at domain level GPO) still works
if you log-on with Win9x/Me/NT computer.
