Does anyone know if i can download windows 3.1?

But i do not wanted to format my harddrive.

Just to mess around with it.

Can i emulator to run off windows xp?

I'd guess it's very unlikely MS would ever let any of their OS's go free, I wouldn't mind betting you'd even have to pay for DOS 5.

However, if you look on E-Bay, I expect you'd find complete sets of legal floppy disks at a reasonable price

Windows 3.11 (Windows for Workgroups) is the one to go for, not 3.1

Windows 3 must have DOS underneath to work, I recommend DOS 6.22 ... it is just a pretty face for DOS.

XP does not have the DOS needed that can run Windows 3.11 ... I'd get a second HD.

DOS & Win 3.11 are going to have a very hard time with the modern PC hardware ... can you get the drivers?


It just ain't worth it unless you have an old working 286/386 ... then you may still be pushed to find driver, though I'm sure they are out there somewhere.
