Windows 2003 - When does the pagefile become active?

I created a new pagefile on my drive d:. Windows 2003 said nothing about
a reboot! Is the pagefile already active (I already see the file), or do
I have to reboot.

If it is new pagefile and not a current one that is being changed than it
doesn't need a reboot. It is active now.
