Windows 2003 Terminal Server Question

Hello

Sorry could not find the Terminal Server for Windows 2K3 server forum so
thought poeple in here might be able to help

We have 3 identical servers all running Windows Server 2003 SP1, which also
run Citrix Presentation Server 4

On one of these servers is not unloading the users profiles when they log
off, we have this set to do this via group policy, the other 2 servers are
doing this without any problems, infact they unload the profile within a
couple of seconds. The one server that we are having the issues with can
take up to 15 mins to remove the profile.

Any suggestions on this issue would be greatfully recieved.

Thanks in advance

The main TS newsgroup (not OS version specific) is
microsoft.public.windows.terminal_services.

Is there anything in the EventLog on this server?
Can you check in Task manager if there is still an application
running in the users context when the server is trying to unload
the profile?
Could there be a print job still hanging around?

You could enable userenv logging to get more information:

Or install the UPHClean utility:

Hello Vera,

I have already got UPHClean installed on this server, i hav uninstalled this
and reinstalled this and i am still getting this problem.

When i enabled the userenv logging this is what is gettting logged

{
USERENV(480.13d4) 11:00:34:276 GetExclusionList: Failed to get file size of
<M:\Documents and Settings\adecs\ntuser.ini>
USERENV(480.13d4) 11:00:36:308 ReconcileFile: Unable to open temporary file
USERENV(fa8.1724) 11:00:56:761 PolicyChangedThread: UpdateUser failed with
1008.
USERENV(480.1478) 11:11:49:387 GetExclusionList: Failed to get file size of
<M:\Documents and Settings\Gareth Collins\ntuser.ini>
USERENV(480.1478) 11:11:51:621 ReconcileFile: Unable to open temporary file
USERENV(16d0.6bc) 11:12:10:027 PolicyChangedThread: UpdateUser failed with

USERENV(480.17c4) 11:19:27:567 ReconcileFile: Unable to open temporary file
USERENV(480.17c4) 11:19:32:489 DeleteProfile: Failed to delete the appmgmt
dir

error 2
USERENV(480.17c4) 11:25:33:333 ReconcileFile: Unable to open temporary file
USERENV(480.17c4) 11:25:37:036 DeleteProfile: Failed to delete the appmgmt

error 2
}

This does not really mean anything to me to be totally honest, but what i
can see is that it is failing to delete a folder from
%systemroot%\system32\appmgmt\ which could be causing this problem.

I am going to be reinstalling Windows Server 2K3 SP1 now and look forward to
your responce.

Thanks you for your time

Gareth

Yes, the appmgmt folder is aproblem, but I would look into these
first:
USERENV(480.13d4) 11:00:34:276 GetExclusionList: Failed to get
file size of <M:\Documents and Settings\adecs\ntuser.ini>
USERENV(480.13d4) 11:00:36:308 ReconcileFile: Unable to open
temporary file

So you have used Citrix drive remap "feature", it seems?
Do the users have access and the correct permissions to a temp
folder?

And this one as well:
USERENV(fa8.1724) 11:00:56:761
PolicyChangedThread: UpdateUser failed with 1008.

As explained in
net helpmsg 1008 gives error description:
"An attempt was made to reference a token that does not exist."
