Windows 2003 Server Setup

When setting up a Win2k3 server, are my only 2 choices to participate in a
workgroup or AD model? Can I use the classic domain model without using AD?
 
Windows 2000 server can only be domain controllers if they are running
active directory. They cannot be domain controllers in an NT4 domain.
