I am about to receive 20 new computers for my school lab and initially plan
to set them up as peer to peer for basic sharing. Is it possible to use a
Windows 2000 type Logon Screen.

First of all How many PC's do you have? after about 20 to 30 I would
recomend using a windows 2k Domain. However you can have a peer to peer
network with not much trouble. First of all create a computer that will be
used as a file/print share PC. Place all your shared files and printers on
this PC. Next, this is a choice you must make, you can either create one
username and have each user log on with that username so when they try to
access other files they dont have to log in, or you can create differnt
levels of access on the "server" pc and give out username\logins to the
users on an individual basis. Personally I dont like this method because it
is not very clean. Best of luck to you, and if you have any questions feel
free to send me an e-mail.

Yes. Go to Control Panel | User Accounts, click "Change the way users
log on off", and un-check "Use the Welcome screen".
