Windows 2000 Server setup fails on Compaq Proliant

Paul Giordano

While trying to install Windows 2000 server on a Compaq
Proliant server, it fails while trying to detect hardware
at the beggining of setup. We have tried replacing
drives. What could be causing this ? Bad hardware ?
Improper SCSI config ?

Have run Compaq smart start? You need to provide
information on the SCSI array setup prior to OS install.
Smart Start is by far the easiest way. Otherwise you must
obtain the correct SCSI drivers and provide them When
prompted during OS setup.

Hi Paul,
Great suggestion from Steve.

You may also need to verify that the BIOS and firmware are up to date, and
it's still possible that faulty hardware is causing the problem. Use the
Compaq diagnostic utilities to run thorough tests on the hardware, and make
sure it's all in good shape.
