Windows 2000 Server Event Viewer

I have come across a strange problem. First of all it
looked like the event viewer was not loggin any event, I
checked whether any filter were in play, but none were. I
found that if I refreshed each of the logs that the events
then appeared in the right hand pane, but with the
exception for the System and Security logs, Has anyone
else come across this before or know how to fix it. This
is a production server and so at the moment a reboot is
not an option, TIA

If you are running SP4 then I suggest reading this article and applying the
hotfix
