Windows 2000 Professional Compatibility

G

Greg W.

I am currently running Windows 2000 Professional OS on my
computer. My problem is one of compatibility. I have
several older programs, including some DOS based games
that I am not able to run on this OS. I had no trouble at
all with any of these programs while using Windows 95 or
98. Unfortunately, these programs have not released an
updated version that will work using Windows 2000. Is
there some kind of compatibility manager or something that
I could download or perhaps a patch that would allow me to
run these programs using my current OS?

Greg,

If you have kept your system up-to-date with Service Packs, you should be
able to apply the Compatibility Modes that were built into Windows 2000.
Simply find the EXE file that runs the game, right click on it, choose
PROPERTIES and you should see a Compatibility tab.

Some DOS apps may not have the compatibility tab available, in which case my
best advice would be to do a web-search for "run <app name> on Windows 2000"
and see if maybe someone out on the web has figured a way to make the app
work,

Hope this helps.
