Windows 2000 pro upgrade.

I have Win ME on my home Pc. I tried to upgrade ME to
Win2000. It has gotten as far as the setup of devices such
as mouse and keyboard and finalizing. Before it saves
settings it restarts the Pc and restarts the set up all
over again. If I leave the Pc it will do that forever. How
do I get out of that?

Please help?

There is no supported upgrade path from WinME to Windows 2000. To do a clean
install, either boot the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or setup disks. The set
of four install disks can be created from your Windows 2000 CD-Rom; change
to the \bootdisk directory on the CD-Rom and execute makeboot.exe (from dos)
or makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and follow the prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.

Hello, I have the same problem but in Win98 to Win2000.

I tracked the error in "Safe Bootup" option, and it
returns an error #800b0001 that mean I need to update my
BIOS.

By the way, I have something is interesting to share with
you.... I have two harddisks. I tried the update on my
spare harddisk that has a bad sector. It goes just fine.

I replaced the bad harddisk with my good one and then
that problem started to occur. This doesn't sound right
for me, because the BIOS is in the ROM and is indepedable
from the Harddisk.

Do you have any insight vision of what's going on?

you since you posted this question. Have you been able to
get any further with your install?
