Windows 2000 Logon-Logoff Status Messages

Hi i have Windows 2000 Professional and when i log on or
log out from windows i don't see any status messages at
all,like: Windows is shuting down,rebooting etc...

I have tried the following:
I opened the registry and in the following key:
[My
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr
entVersion\policies\system ]

i added the subkeys:
verbosestatus REG_DWORD (1)
DisableStatusMessages REG_DWORD (0)

| The problem is that IT DOESN'T WORK...(on Windows 2000)
