Windows 2000 can't open some programs

I have an old version of MS Works on my computer and I
have been using it with no problem. One day it just would
not start. I double click on it and nothing happens. I
tried uninstalling and then reinstalling it, but nothing
works. There are a few other programs that do the same
thing. I have too much information on my cpu to just
reinstall windows.

Any Help?
 
Repairing or reinstalling win2k will not delete data.
A clean install will.
You have too much info? - and apparently no backup.
So what happens when the hd fails?
