Who can explain to me, a nitwit when it comes to
computers, what exactly the differences are between
Windows 2000 and Office 2000.

Windows 2000 is the Operating System, Office 2000 is a suite of
applications.

Your computer must have an Operating system, but it can work just fine
without applications installed.

You can search www.microsoft.com for Windows 2000 for information on the
operating system. You can also search for Office 2000 for information on the
suite of apps.

Interesting. The similarities first. Both have the number 2000 in them.
Both are made by Microsoft. Now for the dufferences. Office 2000 is a
suite of applications that need a Windows Operating system to run on.
(Usually). Windows 2000 is an operating system. Office 2000 without a
Operating system is pretty CD-ROM also called a "coaster." Windows 2000
without Office 2000 is just less bloat.
