To whom it may concern,

I would like to know how do I communicate my W2K (SP4 as our DC) with Linux?

Make sure ths smb services (samba) are installed on the
Linux system (smbd daemon running). Without these
services, you won't get anywhere.

The access is set up on the Linux system. SMB services
allow Linux (and Unix) to access Windows shares.

There must be a user account on the Windows system. I
set up an account with the username/password I use on the
Linux host.

To have the Windows2000 system acces the Linux system as
if it were a Windows box, make sure to setup SMB shares
on the Linux system.

To have the Linux system access the Windows shares,
configure the SMB client.

A link to a Samba users guide can be found on
www.samba.org in HTML format.

Depending on which distribution & what services are
loaded, Linux has a GUI configuration toolset in X-
Windows.
