Windowa media player

My Windows Media Player is skipping and a strange sound
is coming out of wy speakers. Every time it skips the
mouse locks up for a second, then begins to play. This
happens every two or three seconds. I would uninstall
Media 9 but I don't know how. Can anyone tell me what to
do? Thanks
