window xp 2005 home edition in regards to windows media center

I just bought a new xbox recently and had the previous one hooked to my tv
upstairs thru media center. trying to hook the new one up when i run the
media extender software its says there is a problem with a media center
update and that i should uninstall the update and reinstall. since media
center is not in my add or remove programs how do i do this delete the media
center folder and do a general update??? any input would be appreciated

This is an Windows XP group, not an Xbox group. I suggest you find a group
that has Xbox in the title.
